Special Nussle Report: Credit unions headed to the White House
We have the chance to do something very special at the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference—bring lasting regulatory-relief to credit unions across the country.
Today, incoming CUNA Chairman Maurice Smith and I will lead a small delegation of credit union CEOs from across the country to the White House to meet with President Donald Trump. We’ll take the same message you’re taking to your Senators—that S. 2155 is bipartisan, common-sense legislation aimed at helping Main Street financial institutions and the consumers they serve.
We’ll tell President Trump that the country’s credit unions support this bill because it gives them a fighting chance against big banks, unburdens them from regulations written for Wall Street, and allows them to give a portion of the $6.1 billion they spend every year complying with regulations back to their more than 110 million members.
We’ll encourage him to urge the bill’s passage in the Senate, and two days later thousands of credit union folks will hike the Hill to deliver the same message. This is a huge opportunity! You better believe the more than 5,000 credit union voices at GAC will ring out loud and clear through the halls of Capitol Hill.
If you’re not attending GAC next week, you can still make your voice heard. Join me in fighting for this bill. Tell your representatives in Congress that S. 2155 represents careful, bipartisan deliberation and deserves their support.
By all of us working together, we can get this bill passed. We can reduce regulatory burdens for credit unions, so you can better serve your members.
All the best,
President and CEO
